Exchange Rates 2 (Legacy) App Reviews

Neat, but vastly perfectible

1. The colors & design are a bit odd for Yosemite. It could be refined. 2. The notification center doesn’t allow much. I would prefer not having the change in the (already pretty crowded) menu bar but rather in the notification center. Unfortunately, I can’t type a number (say $4000) and see the quotation in euro right next to it. And I would love to see this number persistent, of course.

Complete rip off

Want to throw your money away? This is the app for you.

Out of cycles

5 because it seems to be dev by young people and I support them.

Love it!

Love it but for some reason I can’t get the vaultoro.com bitcoin gold market price feed to show up. Apart from that it’s a really usefull app, I love that it works in the notification center too!

perfectly embedded

must have

Extension fail

While this could be a nice app for Mavericks (residing in the top bar…), I bought it mainly for the Extensions feature. That’s exactly the point: once you quit the app, the information that needs to be displayed in the Notifications sidebar disappears as well. You need to start the app in order to have the information available in the sidebar…

working good

working good, although i would prefer to have the chance to see in the main window more currency changed at 1 time.

Icon at top of screen disappears when Safari is ON.

I liked the fact the icon with USD & (I chose) Thai Baht was at the top of my desktop screen after I selected that option, BUT the icon disappears when Safari is ON, so it is not tere when I need it to do emails other things. If it is a problem I caused some how I need help overcoming it. Then I will give it a better rating than one star; maybe for or five? If it is normal, the program is a waste of money.

Pretty good, I have a suggestion.

I just wanted this app for easy bitcoin to dollar calculations. Well it does have three exchange choices, one of them is Mt. Gox and we all know that number is worthless. Bitstamp is pretty close to Coinbase, but if you are in the US, coinbase is the go to price, it should be one of the options. I gave 4 stars, if they add Coinbase and a few more for others, I would leave a 5 star review.

Perfect FX tool

A very responsive developer and with every update the app has become more indispensable. Adapted for the different direct or indirect conversions which helps across international markets. Excellent and highly recommended.

Fast, Fluid, and Essential!

"Why wasn’t this built into OSX” one might ask after using Exchange Rates. If you are sick and tired of calculating exchange rates, then it’s time to stop. Exchange Rates is the best currency exchange app on the market. Not only is it quick and stable, but it also makes it convenient to calculate different exchange rates. There are a variety of options to change the appearance and layout allowing it to be subtlety integrated into the menu bar. It allows for favorites, history, and a search feature is built straight in. Everything is sorted alphabetically and easy to find. This developer is seriously devoted to this app and keeps updating it with very useful features. For the price this developer is asking, this app is a steal. I would have paid ten times the amount he/she is asking. Definitely worth it and you will not regret it!

Does not launch

The app doesnt launch when i try to open it. 1 star for not working at all

Average at best

This app could have been designed 5-10 years ago. it works but is awkward,, manual, not fluid and intuitive. No smart hot zones. I will not delete it and could not recommend it without a comprehenisive update of functionality and design.

Not Launching

This app does not launch.

Rubbish

Don’t waste your money. It’s about as useful as a chocolate heat shield.

Misrepresented information

I won’t lie, I bought this app for one simple reason, to keep track of silver. I go to customize it, and its missing silver.

Direct and Indirect quotes

I am interested to see how much the Euro or the USD can buy in other currencies. To do that I have to select every currency separately. Not practical

Exactly what I wanted

I must admit I wasnt a fan of the previous version. I couldn’t get my head around it and it seemed to miss quite a few currencies but with this new update its easier to handle, it works smoothly and quickly, there’s plenty of options and preferences to fiddle with and customise the application. Definitely worth it!

Best currency menubar app with one slight flaw.

I use this app on a regular basis to check foreign currency rates around the globe and it provides quick and accurate rates daily with a minimal footprint. I’ve used the other top currency exchange rate apps on the App Store and I found this to be the best. However, one issue has bugged me with this app that should be resolved by the Dev. In order to update this particular app, the user must manually close the app in order for it to be able to update. It should be able to terminate itself, but there is a problem with this app. This isn’t a big issue for myself, but for users who aren’t as knowledgable of OS X it does create an issue for them. I know a number of users who do not understand that in order for them to update they must manually quit the app. Due to that it has created some irriated users who have no clue what is preventing updates from being installed. This can easily be fixed, so Dev please fix it. Otherwise this app is 5 Stars!

Absolutely worth it

If you are trying to buy something in a foreign currency and keep watching the rate because you’re waiting for a good deal, then this app is for you. You can have an updated conversion for the exact price of the item you want in its currency in your toolbar so that you know exactly when the right moment to buy is. Example: I need to buy a ticket for 650 euro. Two days ago that was $705, but today it is $728; so in my toolbar I see the app logo and next to it “728.065”, updated every two min. I can add notifications for when the rate drops or rises to a certain point, and list my favorites. I’m grateful this guy made the app, it’s exactly what I was looking for. AND it works as a widget too!
